Big Brother 10

Postby Phoebe » Thu May 07, 2009 11:00 pm

After reading this piece of news:

Davina: 2010 Is The Last Big Brother

Davina McCall has said that next year's Big Brother will be the last. As a presenter, she has fronted various television programmes, but remains best known for being the face of Big Brother.

The star, who will helm Big Brother 10 when it returns in June, said: "It's definitely only got two years left." Channel 4 is contracted to air the series until next year, but most critics and many fans agree that it is definitely a shadow of its former self.

Last year's final, won by nice girl Rachel Rice, had the lowest final night audience of the show's nine series, peaking with an audience of just over five million viewers. What's more, the franchise has lost the services of Russell Brand (former host of Big Brother's Big Mouth) and Dermot O'Leary (long associated with Big Brother's Little Brother) with both men going on to bigger and better things (a Hollywood career and X Factor respectively). However Davina, Big Brother host since the 2000 launch, insisted: "It's become an institution; the summer is all about Big Brother, just like winter is all about the X Factor."

It's telling that, for the first time, action from the Big Brother house in Elstree, Herts will not be streamed live to viewers. A source said: "It's a cost-cutting measure." But there will be a tribute to the late Big Brother 3 star Jade Goody on E4; it will air before Big Brother 10 starts. Without a doubt, this is the show that has made Davina what she is today.

I decided that it was time for our next Big Brother topic as we now know that the show is returning next month. I've heard it's around the 4th/5th June! I haven't heard much about it so far, maybe they are keeping things hush hush to make it more exciting and attract audiences. They need to come up with something different!!

They should end the show when Davina leaves.

I don't see why she would want to stop presenting it though, it's not like she's going to be getting much other work. Remember that dreadful talk show she did? Big Brother is her perfect 'fit'.

Yeah. Davina's going to run the full stretch of the Big Brother show until the final one next year! She is perfect for Big Brother, although I still didn't feel her excitement for the show as much last year. I've been looking for info about the new series starting next month but finding it hard getting anything, anyone heard anything?

I think BB has run its course. In fact I think quite a number of reality television shows should bow out. I wouldn't be sad to see the back of I'm a Celebrity.

I don't think anyones really shocked or disappointed by the news that Big Brother will be ending in 2010, in recent years it has really gone downhill. Although, I will still always tune in and hope that they have come up with something to make it better.

Since this year has already been kept fairly under wraps, im looking forward to seeing what they have come up with!

I'm sure in the final year they'll let us vote back all our favourite old house mates.

Either that or it will be all the winners of the previous shows...

The fact this years BB has been kept so under wraps makes me wonder just what kind of wannabes they have managed to dig up, hopefully there won't be any Rachel's in this years show! Wonder what they have done with the house...

Yeah, that's what I thought like a winners of winners show for the final one! So long as they agree to take part (which they will, let's face it, they're all nobodies!). It would work out right because 10 winners = 10 housemates.

I know! How did Rachel ever win? That was a disaster. Ugh.

Im still looking for news about the next BB but it's hard to find!

Over at Digital Spy, the first possible Big Brother 10 eye has emerged...

It's certainly different. Maybe an X representing a 10? And green and black for camoflage? BB being strict? Army camp?

Meh. I don't know. But there it is!

It's official... Big Brother 10 is close!! The Channel 4 website has put the eye up, they do this a few weeks before. We should start getting some information about this years BB and house photo's, Channel 4 promos etc.

What does everyone think of the eye?

I think that it's pretty nice, it's in-keeping with the others but nice and colourful. I thought that if you put the centre of the eye with the outer part of the eye it looks like a finger/thumb print which might link to identity. I have heard a rumour that some of the housemates going into the house this year are celebrity lookalikes, so maybe this is what the eye is representing - mistaken identities!

I guess all will be revealed soon..

Well I was thinking that the eye usually means something... And after observing it, that's what I came up with!

Any other suggestions?

HOUSEMATES on Big Brother 10 will be under the thumb this summer.

The show’s new eye logo is black, blue and purple and looks just like a crime scene thumbprint.

Fans are in a frenzy about the hidden meaning behind the motif.

Some think there will be an “identity” theme to the show, believing one housemate could be hiding their true identity.

Logo designer Daniel Eatock said: “It is based on a thumbprint, but is it Big Brother’s thumbprint? Or a housemate’s thumb print?”

The show starts on June 4 and runs for 13 weeks.

So the eye has a hidden thumbprint that eludes to an element of this years show? Thanks for that information Edsta! :^

So, I did get the thumb print part correct? ;) I wonder what it all means.

At least we have a date there. 4th June, that's a Thursday?
