Shadow of a Doubt is a classic Hollywood movie. Joseph Cotten is excellent as Uncle Charlie, if you enjoyed his performance then I heartily recommend Citizen Kane (ESSENTIAL viewing) where he co-stars with Orson Welles (both actor and director). Interestingly Shadow of a Doubt was Hitchcock's personal favourite out of all the films that he directed.
Yeah, he said that it was the idea of bringing menace into a small town that made this one of his favourite pieces. I believe 'The Wrong Man' has a similar structure to 'Shadow of a Doubt'? I've watched all of the Special Features on the discs as well, they are so interesting and informative!
I feel that Citizen Kane is one that is in need of urgent viewing from myself, unfortunately I don't own it but I will put it on my must-see list! Thanks for the recommendation.
