I have never seen a Michael Douglas film before but I thought he was fantastic in this and throughly entertaining from start to finish.

BD: The Princess and the Frog (2009) ~ ~ ~ ~

Nice to see Disney return to form with a great 2D animated movie. Whilst it easily surpasses there latter efforts, it doesn't quite reach the heights of some of Disney's modern classics such as The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

HD DVD: Top Gun (1986) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Great movie!

Cinema: get him to the Greek (2010) ~ ~ thought this was terrible with VERY few laugh out loud moments!

DVD: the curious case of Benjamin button ~ ~ ~ thought this was very long winded, but still a good film

BD: Gran Torino (2008) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

BD: The Rookie (1990) ~ ~ ~ ~

Eastwood double-bill. Sure The Rookie but I've mentioned in the past why I enjoy it, in short I think it's a lot of fun. I saw a definite trend between the two movies and that is: cars. Eastwood must love his cars.

Cinema: Inception (2010) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Inception is an exhilrating movie with a great storyline that makes it hard to determine what is reality or a dream. Christopher Nolan made this film absolutly brilliantly with superb performances by Leonardo Dicaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

BD: True Romance (1993) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

True Romance is a fantastic Crime thriller with great acting by Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette also I can't forget Dennis Hopper or Brad Pitt both did great performances. The film has great pace all the way through and you really enjoy the ride with characters Clarence and Alabama.
Spoiler: show
One bit I love the most was the recurrence of Elvis with Clarence in the bathroom. It was like Elvis was clarence's alter ego and also I thought Brad Pitt played a great stoner.

BD: Moonwalker (1988) ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Moonwalker is an incrediable showpiece of a selection of Michael Jackson's biggest songs and dance classics. The film is very iconic as the film goes through Michael's life from boy to man and the challenges he faces. The film reminded me of what a fantastic man he truely was.

BD: The Prisoner - The Complete Series (2010) :1/2:

It takes everything from the original and completely crushes the life out of it. The show completely misses the mark with everything that it attempts, the acting, directing and score are all dire and uninspired. Essentially it's a great example of 'how NOT to make a TV show'.

The only feature of it that warrants a half star, is that underneath all that crap is the seed of the idea which grew into the original CLASSIC series. MISS.

BD: Batman Forever (1995) ~ ~ ~

I used to love this movie as a kid. Forever along with Returns where my favourite two Batman movies. When I re-watched this yesterday, I was happy to find that I haven't grown to hate it.

Instead of focusing on the easily pinpointable (that's a word so shut it) negatives, lets have a look at some of the movies positives:

  • Val Kilmer is a really good Bruce Wayne.
  • The film actually delves a little bit into Batman's mythology, i.e. WHY Bruce Wayne became Batman.
  • If we ignore all the neon and homeoerotic stuff, then there's actually some pretty good dark stuff in there.
  • Robin's entry into the Batman universe is well done and hasn't been done better on film... yet.
  • Some of the action sequences whilst waaaaay over the top are pretty cool eye candy.

BD: Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002) ~ ~ :1/2:

It's pretty good, but it suffers from feeling like a series of comedy sketches stitched together rather than a cohesive film. It's a shame too because there's a lot of things to like in here, such as the origins of Dr. Evil which is a fun twist and Michael Caine is very good. Unfortunately, the 'mole' scenes, Fat Bastard scenes and repetition of the same damn jokes from the first and second film drag the movie down. Still the opening sequence is the best of the three Powers movies IMO.
